Tell me a little about yourself.
Well, my name is Damien, I live in North London. I lead a very active lifestyle, and love to travel.
Where’s your favorite place you’ve been?
Definitely Mongolia! It’s open, pretty wild, and so few people, it’s amazing. You can drive for hours and hours and not see another car or person or really anything else, just open, vast space… it’s huge, and it’s so varied as well; deserts and dunes, lush plains, mountains, glacial lakes, crazy cities as well, and amazing nightlife!
Tell me a little about your day-to-day when you’re not exploring deserts, mountains, and glacial lakes.
My schedule is always full, organizing classes, having meetings, and answering enquiries about The Space Group (link), which takes vacant and underused properties and makes them valuable to the community. In the evenings, I might take a yoga class or go to the gym. I’d like to take on some circus training, but I recently got injured, so I’m waiting for that to heal.
What would you do if you had more hours in the day?
I’d like to draw more; I love pencil and pen line drawing, mostly still life, although life drawing can be fun, too. I don’t have as much time for it as I’d like.
If you could open any door in the world, which one would you choose?
The door of time?
Is that a door?
I don’t know, but I’d like to be able to travel back and see America pre-invasion, to see the prairies. Oh! And the buffalo!”
